It is important to note that there are limits to the capabilities of a wireless security camera:
If the camera is fully wireless, it needs a battery for power. In this kind of arrangement, you must replace or recharge the battery before it dies. Solar cameras also use a solar panel to charge the batteries during the day.
Do not place a wireless camera too far from the main hub or wireless router. If there is a direct line of sight, the range of a wireless camera can reach up to 500 feet or more. In a home, the range is usually lower – around 150 feet – but not always.
Signal range depends on several factors, including the building materials in your home, other wireless devices nearby, and walls or objects through which the signal must pass.
Drywall and standard glass may not impact the camera’s wireless signal strength, but brick and concrete will. If there are brick walls, concrete floors, and tall trees between the camera and the receiver, your signal strength will likely weaken.
